| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description When Apple set out to create the iBook, one of key design goals was to create a lightweight notebook computer tough enough to stand up to the occasional bumps and other unexpected mishaps of life on the go. From the standpoint of a laptop, the inside of a backpack can be a fairly inhospitable place. And yet you shouldn't have to walk softly just because you're carrying the most appealing notebook ever.So Apple made the iBook's sleek case out of impact-resistant polycarbonate plastic. That would ordinarily be sufficient to survive the rigorous of everyday use and abuse, but Apple didn't stop there. Inside, a sturdy magnesium frame provides superior strength, while reducing the iBook's weight to well below that of other full-featured PC notebooks. Apple even rubber-mounted the hard disk drive for added bump tolerance, so you can store all of your digital goodies on your iBook and still enjoy peace of mind. Additionally, the iBook has no I/O doors, protruding latches or levers to break or snap off when tucking it into a backpack or briefcase.
Amazon.com Product Description One of the most compact sytems on the market, the Apple iBook delivers a comprehensive feature set and a slick design at a price that budget-minded consumers will love. Weighing in at a mere 4.9 pounds and standing 1.35 inches high, it is easily one of the most compact units on the market. It comes with a 600 MHz PowerPC G3 processor, 128 MB of RAM (expandable to 640 MB), and a 15 GB hard disk. Additional features include an 8x DVD-ROM drive, a 56K modem, a 10/100 Mbps Ethernet NIC, and a 12.1-inch, active- matrix display. The system comes with both the classic Mac OS 9 and the slick new Mac OS X operating systems installed.

Apple iBook Laptop July 30, 2010 C. Olivo This laptop held up great during shipping. No damage at all. I received it quickly as well. It's been holding up great so far. It's perfect for what I use it for.
A KIND OFFER April 21, 2010 Mitos (Princeton, NJ) I just feel the Apple is OK. I have not used it. I got it all wrong that it has a DVD drive, but no it is s CD Drive. The specs did not show clearly that it has no DVD drive. I hope I can learn more about apple using this.

I am one of those switchers (apple.com/switch). I worked on mac 5 years ago, loved it but couldn't afford one. So I have spent the last 5 years in the PC family. Just bought the iBook. It's absolute perfection. No problem to switch files, so easy to use. I now have an ipod, a digital camera. I completely (re)adopted Mac's digital life. Have no fear to get rid of your PC and ride a Mac. You will notice the difference.
